Draft Survey

The amount of goods loaded at the loading port or unloading port is determined by the draft survey to be requested by the ship operator, transport company or charterer. Draft survey is a technical calculation method to determine the weight of goods loaded or unloaded in bulk cargoes. The application of this method dates back a hundred years. Draft survey calculations, which are easy to apply and very accurate in determining the weight of bulk cargoes, are the basis for preparing bill of lading and calculating various fees and port taxes.

Draft Survey

In fact, the principle of this method is based on the law of buoyancy found by Archimedes about 2200 years ago. According to Archimedes' law, how much water a ship carries when launched can be easily calculated. For this reason, it is sufficient to measure the amount of water carried by the ship during this process in order to determine the weight of the loads loaded or unloaded from a ship.

Accordingly, the difference between the amount of water carried by a ship prior to loading or unloading operations and the amount of water carried by the ship after loading and unloading gives the weight of the loaded or unloaded load.

The official procedure for this method is the UN ECE / ENERGY / 1992 published in 19, the standard and procedures document for draft survey calculations in coal loading. In addition, auditors of supervisory agencies use high-level draft survey programs in calculations.

The reports prepared as a result of draft survey calculations carried out by surveillance and surveillance organizations are accepted by the customs administrations of many countries. Trained and experienced expert inspectors carry out these studies together with the ship's captain. Based on the principle of water buoyancy, the empty and loaded weights of the ship are calculated with the help of the ship's stability charts and the weight of the loaded goods is calculated.

This method is widely used when transporting dry bulk commercial cargoes subject to import or export operations by ship.

Our company, which has a trained and experienced, expert staff and a strong technical infrastructure, provides draft survey services to its customers within the scope of marine survey services. Draft survey calculations, previously preparedn It is carried out in a professional manner in accordance with the draft survey and quantification procedure.
